I'm sooooooo happy today!!! The boy finally got to call. I haven't heard from him in about a month, so I was missing him terribly. I woke up to the phone ringing at about 2 am, and I jumped and ran to the phone, but then it stopped ringing, so I sat there for about 5 minutes hoping he would call back (it felt like half a hour at least). Finally, the phone starting ringing, and I picked up the phone, and he sounded like he was crying. I said, "what's wrong babe?" He said, "I was mad and about to cry because the phone wasn't working well," and he thought he wouldn't get to talk to me. The phone service over in Afghanistan is very poor. I almost started to cry, but I was to happy to get to talk to him. However, it did make it very hard to fall back asleep after the phone call. Thank goodness for books!
I was asking him what he needed me to send to him, and he was telling me about the bad living conditions. For instance, that morning he woke up to rain falling on him because they were sleeping outside in the elements. I know he's a marine and he can tough it out, but I think to myself how difficult it has to be, and I could never do it. I'm sitting here writing a blog in the comforts of my home, and it makes me feel like crap.
On a good note, we are over the hump. YAY!!! He will be home soon safe and sound. I can't wait!!!
I'm soooooo thankful for my family and friends for all their support. I don't know what I would do without them.
